Apple announced last week that all three of their Pro Video Apps would be available for update this Monday. You will need High Sierra to see them, but they are now all available on the Mac App Store.
Hot on the heels of their recent notification of over 150 new features for their video review and approval service update that will arrive in the Summer, Frame.io has just announced 'Watch folders for macOS'. This allows the high sped transfer of files such as dailies though a MacOS menubar app.
A few days before the 2018 Academy Awards, we published an article about the crowd-funded British short movie "The Silent Child", written by Rachel Shenton and directed by Chris Overton, that had been nominated for an Oscar.
The movie won, which was an incredible achievement considering that Rachel had never written a script before, Chris had never directed a movie before, the movie was produced with close to no budget, and it was cut with Final Cut Pro X by an editor who had never edited a narrative movie before and who actually learned FCP X on this job.
Apple has announced that updates of Final Cut Pro X to 10.4.1, Motion to 5.4.1 and Compressor to 4.4.1 will be available as free upgrades on Monday April 9th 2018.
Two big new features for FCPX are Closed Captions and the ability to use the new ProRes RAW codecs.
Apple also announced that 2017 was FCPX's best year with over 500,000 new seats being sold, bringing the total tally of seats sold to over 2.5 million since launch.
