Mine can be pretty sluggish (i'm learning as I go along thanks to help on here) but things speed up if you convert your optimised files in FCP 'preferences'to proxy files (smaller files)

Make sure you convert back to Optimsed befor you send to compressor etc

    hope that helps

    Neil
PS speed can also depend on what usb cables you are using etc ideally usb 3

Thank you for the links. I did not know "cinematographer stiles".

A favorite of mine is: "Visions of light.the Art of Cinematography (1992)". The film is the equivalent of a walk through a cinema museum. The doc interviews many directors of photography. They discuss their craft and pay homage to the cinema pioneers and they Illustrate through examples their best work and the scenes from movies that Influenced them.

  • I agree. Corrupted fonts can wreak havoc. I would also be careful to keep the database files for your events under 100 mb in size. If they grow larger than that, it can cause severe slow downs and crashes.

If it's larger than 100mb, then create a new event, and move some of your collections into the new event.

indeed, you have a whole universe in a garage or even in your pocket. :woohoo:

    Thanks Trix Trax

I would have done the desktop to YouTube routine but there are exporting issues.

I have recently updated to 10.0.8.

Earlier the Share option allowed me convert to 1080, 720... and so on. In this version, if I choose the Export File option, the file sizes I can create are too heavy for what I need - YouTube uploads.

The other option - Master File: I did convert some old projects using codec H.264, and while that gives me good quality video, the sound is drastically inferior than the original sound. I even tried Apple Pro Res 422 but the sound is bad.

Can anyone help me with what needs fixing?

    Hi Guys

    really quick question.

What is the best MPEG setting for a short film that is going to be displayed at an AGM meeting onto a screen.

I gave the PR lady a "MPEG -2 transport stream 15mb" before but shes asked for something just a little bit smaller so she can play it on her laptop - as well as at AGM.

    quick reply really appreciated

    thanks

When you apply the Track Points behavior, by default, the points are assigned tracking points the OPPOSITE of the direction we naturally draw a line of this type. As it is natural to draw from the furthest point, to the point nearest the target. In my classes I have see dozens and dozens of students to this for many, many years now.

Thus when you apply it, you have a choice.
    A- Swap out the assignments.
B- Move the line's anchor point.

Either is valid, no "faulty" claim was ever made.

    Best of luck.

Actual effects and transitions used on Top Gear - very reasonable. I also love their color grading plugin.

Make sure to be very, very careful when making the cable to camera connection. The small firewire ports on camcorders are prone to damage easily. I would also inspect your cable very carefully every time your about to make this connection. A bent pin on your cable can cause serious damage to your camera's firewire port. Inspecting your cable every time can prevent costly repairs to the camera.

Hopefully this hasn't happened already in your case. But check out the pins at all connection points with a magnifying glass.

Because of the symptoms, I would be most suspicious of the firewire connection port on the camera itself.

See if you can get a hold of another camcorder (and another cable).

  • Donald Mitchell created a new topic ' 10.08 crashing a lot' in the forum.
I'm editing 25 music videos I shot. Multicam clips, all media stored on external USB2 HD. iMac 27" 3.4GHz 32GB RAM. OSX 10.7.5. Editing with proxy media. I'm getting maybe 25 crashes a day, sometimes the program quits, sometimes it totally freezes the iMac. Been trashing prefs, running Lion cache cleaner maintenance etc etc.

Is it mainly to do with the USB2 drive being too slow? The crashes seem to happen when I'm working fast and there's a bit of background rendering going on. If I wait for each change to render, it crashes less.

    Any advice?

    Hi
When I try to upload directly from FCP 10.0.8, none of my gmail account usernames and passwords are validated.
However one non-google account seems to be accessed by the new version of FCP.

Do I need to tweak settings on my YouTube channels?
I also read that it may have something to do with YouTube's API settings...

    Looking for a solution urgently.
