It could be ram, hardware issues as I have a Late 2009 iMac. I am going to use the tests you suggest and see what I can find out. I haven't been able to update for awhile and now I'm getting to a position where I can, but want to wait for the new iMacs to hopefully come out in the fall. I don't want a 27" so I'm holding out for the 21" with TB2, etc.

It isn't a size issue because I can export a master file without issues and that can be 60GB+.

It was a brand new project, import/optimized, add clips to timeline, export. But I went ahead and deleted the render files and had the same error. Optimizing gave the same results. There weren't any issues during the render process in this project or any project 30+ that won't export unless its a master file.

Unfortunately I'm still getting the same error after about 20 seconds.

Russ, the box was not checked on my system. I have checked the box and am going to try to export now. Thanks.

I answered all the questions asked. Since I did a fresh install on a new HD nothing needed to be trashed or removed, it's basically like turning on the computer for the first time.

The .mp4 files were optimized, that is always done upon import for any project I work on. The files were sent to me from another person, I don't have specifics on what created them. This happens on ANY project I do that is 30+ minutes exporting from FCPX or Compressor. If I take the same files and export 5 minutes at a time or export a master file there are no issues.

I installed a completely new internal hd so there were not any files to trash or remove. When the error comes up it does not show a frame that is causing the issues, just the error name. FCPX only works on 30+ projects for me if I export a master file first than encoded to a smaller 1080p file, which lengthens the process considerably. The same error comes up on many projects ranging form complex to raw untouched footage. My drive is a 1TB drive with 853GB free.

This projects files at .mp4's provided by another shooter. I will try making a new project, but since the files are unedited I fear the same issue will occur as it does with all my longer projects. The same thing happens when I try to send long project to compressed from FCPX, they all error out if long.

I'm having issues exporting long 1080p files directly from FCPX and Compressor. My timeline only consists of 6 clips with no effects or editing done to them, they have only be optimized upon importing. This never happens with short 2-3 videos, but always with longer 30+ minute timelines. I always get the "Video rendering error: -50" error. The same thing happens if I try to send to compressor.

I've done fresh installs of FCPX and my OS and everything is up to date. Any ideas?

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm defiantly going to check out the tutorial as I feel color matching is one of my weaker areas.

The idea of using a transition between the two does seem like a nice workaround though.

I'm having a real hard time matching the footage from these two shots, the 1 camera's footage never seemed to be white balanced and while I've been able to get other parts close, this looks nothing the same. I've tried match color and adjusting the color board as best I could to get all the yellow/orange out, but this is as best as I can get without become too blue. Anyone have any ideas that may help?

It seems that you did not enter values for "Camera Angle" - sometimes FCP X can figure things out on its own, and sometimes it can't. Adding this camera angle metadata is the best way to ensure that things end up where they should.

Select all the clips that are to go in a given angle (e.g. all clips filmed with a given camera; or all audio clips recorded with a given audio recorder) and open the Inspector. Click the Info button at the top. Make sure that the metadata view (bottom left) is set to extended.
There is an entry for Camera Angle. Enter some appropriate text there - e.g., "Master Audio" or "Camera A" or whatever makes sense.

Repeat the process for each group of clips.

Now try creating the multicam again.

That's pretty much what I ended up doing, I got better results but one clip labeled to be near the beginning ended up over 20 minutes out of sync still. I ended up just deleting it and going with what synced up. Thanks.

Are the audio files sequential or do they sequence to each other? Try syncing the elements separately maybe audio and some video. Then adding in other elements.

The files all cover roughly the same scene from different locations around the room. I have no idea how to add elements after the fact and re-sync?

I'm not sure the difference between the two regarding your first question. When I change a name to a file in my browsers, the angles automatically changed its name to the same thing. All of my audio is labeled, Bride, Groom, etc. My video clips are their native camera files names mvi_1265, etc. Should I be renaming them to 1-a, 1-b, 2-a etc?

Some of my video files are lined up to the audio files, most are not. Most are 30+ minutes out of sync. In the past I have grouped the clips together I needed, made a multi-cam clip without renaming or doing anything, and had the final multi-cam clip be completely in sync. Though that was with far less media, I'm unsure what I need to do differently.

The problem is the footage will not sync correctly. The clips are not matching anywhere near the audio files.

I'm having problems syncing up a multi-cam clip. I have 4 Audio sources, 4 Video angles totaling 15 Video Clips. I grouped them all together in a keyword collection and then selected them all and creating a multi-cam clip using audio to sync. I've done this same process with far less clips to sync and never had a problem does anyone have any suggestions for what could be causing this issues?

I have the most up to date versions of both software and still was not able to burn a Dvd after multiple tries. I ended up using toast and creating from a QuickTime file.
