With regards to Google Drive...it works beautifully. Just drag to its folder and it automatically syncs to the web. Then you can share the files in a very granular way. They can be streamed or downloaded... (Even on mobile devices using the Google Drive app). However I've noticed the streaming is lower quality than downloading.

Also as an FYI MP3s are currently blocked from streaming.

You might want to look into https://copy.com?r=yyLfen ;)
If you need to show your project I would also suggest maybe hosting your own online space. :cheer:

Well Apple Color want to shabby...
I alos don;t see Apple investing in there color corrections side, especially since there is one on the market you can beat with the price.

I do like to see some more workflow and color space option in FCP X and Motion!
In fact I like to see more composting tools in Motion!

in short:

resolution is a nice one, but he predicts higher contrasts/dynamics, better color-resolution and (much) higher fps (120-200fps) as the future-proof trends/needs for camera makers. Laser projection, Dolby HDR TV, ask for more than just more pixels.

At the end he mentions Apple, Arri is being thankful how 'restrict' Apple keeps ProRes specs, to handle the amounts of data, all those new settings create. Says, twice the amount of pixels shouldn't result in twice amount of budget, just to handle the more data...

... from my 'movie goer/not movie maker'-p.o.v. interesting statements... Looks like, Arri thinks, 'end user experience' is more on HDR than UHD ...

Reminds me about a rumor, that Imax once should have done a test, splitting the screen into a black and a white half… then splitting into 4 squares … and again ... and (16, 32, …).. very soon, long BEFORE reaching 2k res!, the average movie-goer notices just 'grey', instead of single pixels...

...

I can't say much anything. ;)
But... I think.... they have something in the pipeline. :)

Not bad of a price, only use I have well more the clients I know. Is that they don't trust Google.
Which is why I went with copy.

Ironically I use dropbox now and then but my last two clients had dropbox blocked by the IT dept. (security risk )

Check out copy.com from Barracuda Networks. It has the same option as Dropbox and more.
The beauty you can create "Companies" for your clients. Also it runs on all platforms.
Here is a link to receive 20GB for free it is worth for a try https://copy.com?r=yyLfen

I do allot RED and VFX and it has been a great companion.

you could also give this a try in Compressor:
Set your Frame Rate to 25 fps in the Video inspector and then in the General set the "Set duration to: So source frames play at 25 fps". This will slow down the clip to 96.00%

Let us know if you get any ghosting.
I will give it a try myself tomorrow.

I think what you are looking for it convert the files from 24 to 25 with getting the famous "ghosting" effect.

When you add you files to Compressor under Video settings set the following:
Retiming quality to Reverse Telecine this give you the 3:2 pull-down.

But I am stuck with Lion and FCPX 10.0.9 so time has come to buy a new computer. And I have ordered the new Mac Pro. iMac could have served my needs perfectly but I simply do not like that computer. I certainly look forward to start work with the new beauty. I have heard warnings, wait for the second generation, wait for the third generation, wait, wait, wait. but no I have waited long enough for this one.

Which model did you get?

Hi Tom,

I've never used iMovie. So would I have to edit / create the block in iMovie then output it and import the card into FCX? Or, is there a way to access the library of available credit presets iMovie has so I can edit it in FCX?

Thanks.

How soon do you need this? I could put something together in Motion and share it here...

Cheers

• If you need to relink a object/media go into the Media TAB command - and right click the file and select reconnect.

I can not verify this but, you copied your footage twice form the same source to two difference destinations.
Question here is how does Final Cut Pro X handle the creation and modification date in the files?

Not sure what your workflow and how involved... on my hand I usually transcode optimised and the proxy at the DIT state.

What I should have said was that the all in one Macs that were state of the art when FCP X came out don't handle 4K red video very well, and in order to change that I'd need a different computer.

Well I have worked with R3D files on a Macbook Pro and iMac with no issues. What I fill is that there is misunderstanding working with R3D... why work with the original R3D files? Final Cut Pro X comes with a good solution working with transcoded files and relinking back to the R3D and sending it to Resolve. I wouldn't consider working with R3D without a finer or Thunderbolt storage. ;)

I see these Mac Pro R3D test as in more... look what it can do but not what you should do. :)

What is wrong with the 2999 MacPro, I just hear how expensive a loaded Mac Pro is.
For editing especially if your not touching the 2K or above area. I do see these tube Mac's go like hot cakes in the graphic and visual effects area.

I do like to see a performance test on the entry model. Come on a workstation over 5K is going to perform no matter what... or better perform no matter what :)

Two reasons for relinking files:

1. I needed to do some drive management and consolidate media on drives. Plus we were having performance issues with some drives using R3Ds so I wanted to copy the files to new drives to see if that would perform it. Not ideal after starting a project I know and in future the file structure won't change.
You could have just moved the Library over to the better performing drive with all the content.

obardain wrote:
2. There are two editors working on this project with two sets of R3D drives. Once I've sorted out the issues with the original set of drives I'll need to duplicate the project/proxies for the second editor and the R3Ds will need to be relinked again to his set of drives. I'm hoping I won't run into more problems when that happens.

Thanks

Pete
Also here just copying the Library would have worked. We are loving 10.1 moving Libraries over our workstation makes it much easier then before! Tomorrow going to try only having the R3D on the XSAN. See how that works

Pete, Ronny already gave you a good step by step solution. Just hit us up if you have any issues or questions.

No issue, yes select each object ether in the Timeline or in the Layer-panel.
Are the bubbles duplicates? If so you could use a Clone Layer which will update when changing the original object.
