If I'm consistent with the editing and no interruptions I'd say about a day and yes there are A LOT of cuts and the clips are super short. At times though(very rarely) when I'm rendering the screen will glitch and my whole laptop screen will be full of glitchy colors and multiple screens. I'm thinking that there is either seriously something wrong with the software or my laptop.

How long does it typically take to make a project thats about 2-4 minutes??

It seems to take me an extremely long time and I don't know if its because the clips I'm using are short or if it's something wrong with my software. I would think that it wouldn't take anymore than 6 hours and should take even less than that. When I was using Imovie it took no time at all to finish projects.

Am I doing something wrong?? Could it be the software? Or is this normal

Davinci resolve? And yeah I know motion is like the best thing to use but after linda tutorials and ripple training its still a foreign concept to me. However, I must admit I kind of skimmed through the tutorials. I would love to master motion it just seems like its so hard and everytime I try to do the tutorials they seem so long .

Ok so I've been using FCPX for roughly 7-8 months now and I still don't quite have it all figured out.

I'm looking at this video and I really can't determine what effects were used.

( What effect was used at 0.01 blur or some type of lighting effect? and at 0.04 was that a light leak or transition or yet another blur effect?) and is that gaussian blur? and was that a speed ramp effect at 0.19 seconds?)

In my defense I did try to figure it out on my own just quite couldn't figure it out.
