Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'dvdsp wtf need help asap' in the forum.Post your project. My guess is you have an issue with the way the buttons are choosing their color. I've never had an issue with DVDSP.

Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'How to I get a file project from Motion to FCPX?' in the forum.I would use an audition. Similar to connecting your clip but using a great feature of FCPX.

Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'DVD Copy Protection' in the forum. You can also maybe talk to someone else at the church and see if doing a video with watermark in the corner with the churches name would be a good idea. If you get people on your side you can stick a watermark through the entire video and if she tries to use it for something else your churches name will be stuck on the video. Like been said copy protection can only be done at a replication facility but even then a little googling and someone can get around it. The only advice I can give you is be choosey with your clients. If she is going to be difficult to work with do you really need the work? Also does she expect a discount? I would not devalue your time and effort. Good luck

Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'Re: Classic FCP7 Alpha Transitions in FCPX' in the forum. There should be an installer that downloads. Open that up and click install. You will need media for alpha transitions. Apple has some available to download.

Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'Exporting in FCPX' in the forum.@pwillis one thing to look at is the setting for apple devices do you have it set to 1 pass or 2 pass encoding. If it is set to higher quality and 2-pass it will take significantly longer (nit just twice as long) this is because the way Final Cut Pro x works when outputting to h.264. Let me explain: On a single pass h.264 (mpeg 4) encode Final Cut Pro will take advantage of your GPU to do a lot of the rendering and encoding. On a two pass encode it can not use the GPU (this is also true with hardware acceleration add ons like the Matrox Max) So on a two pas encode it doesn't take twice as long but significantly longer on both the first and second pass since you are not using the GPU 2-Pass can provide better quality on high action footage and footage that has lots of cuts and transitions, in most cases a high bit rate with a single pass will get the job done. If you must do a two pass encode I alway recommend exporting a master file then encoding from that since half of the heavy lifting is already done (its been rendered) Hope this info helps

Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'Better Lightrays' in the forum.@dgwvideo & @ferguskim thanks for the feedback. I thought the installer was a good idea but since I made the change no one has commented on it, so I was unsure if people liked it or not. The tool I use to create the installer is very easy to use and I will continue to create effects with it.

Mikey Bouchereau created a new topic ' Better Lightrays' in the forum.New Effect for Final Cut Pro X - Better Lightrays. One of my favorite filters in motion is the Lightrays effect. It looks awesome on text, and bright parts of your image. The only problem with it is well....it adds it to the whole image and not just part of it. This is were my Better Lightrays comes in. I've included two different effects here, both the original lightrays filter from Motion 5 and my Better lightrays effect and really take a look at what you can do. The Power of Threshold One of the things I used to create this effect for Final Cut Pro X, was to use a image mask with threshold. This way you can control what is affected by the light rays filter. I even added a blur option so it wont be so hard on the mask. As I started to use this and see how it worked I quickly realized that I needed to be able to limit the effect even more at times. Thats where the mask 4 point mask comes in, and the ability to even colorize the rays. Features * Custom Installer * 4-Point mask built in * Brightness Threshold Mask * Blur Mask Control to soften the edges of the mask * Custom On Screen Controls * Colorize the Light Rays [image] Download for free from my website by clicking here. A video tutorial will be uploaded sometime tomorrow when I get home. B)

Mikey Bouchereau replied to the topic 'DSLR Footage and 10.0.6' in the forum.when reading off the card, Final Cut recognizes that it is a quicktime file that is H.264 (ie MPEG-4), but without the card structure it is just another quicktime movie file without any additional metadata (I am assuming the folder doesn't have the .thm files) The files haven't been changed but the program can not read further into the file until it is imported.
