Sean Lander replied to the topic 'ACC 7 Detroit has gone all FCP X' in the forum.Ew yeah I remember those. One night I had to manually roll in the second half of my story live. (a Current Affair)
No wonder I used to drink so much back then.
I must admit if I was setting up a news room there is no way in hell I'd consider FCP X.

Sean Lander replied to the topic 'In and Out points move' in the forum. That was my guess too, that this footage is some unusual format. I did a lot of editing tonight on my old MacPro and nothing I could do would make the in or out points change once they were set.
My only other suggestion is that there is some conflict in your system. Time to start giving us details.
I suspect it maybe a software glitch of some kind, something where the codecs aren't talking to the program properly.
I've seen this kind of behavior before when you two or more NLEs installed on the same system. In. Y case it was FCP 7 and AVID.. All kinds of weird stuff happening.

Sean Lander replied to the topic 'Playhead jumps to beginning clip in event browser' in the forum.Yes that is normal behavior. It would be nice if it stayed in the list.
The old bug would actually jump to the beginning of the clip itself.

Sean Lander replied to the topic 'Playhead jumps to beginning clip in event browser' in the forum. That's not the work around. The work around is to use frame view. For me it is definitely fixed in 10.0.8. Are you sure it's the play head jumping to the head of the clip or just the selection jumping up to the top of the list?

Sean Lander replied to the topic 'FCPX Attacks Continue' in the forum.Look there's no doubt that Apple screwed the pooch with the launch of FCP X. But they were backed into a corner. It was still a 32 bit program that need a change. All the other pro apps were already 64 bit, they would be able to stand the test of time until Apple's big paradigm shift for pro apps coming this fall. (Fingers crossed)
So he's they gave us a sneak peak, a beta as it were, but now a fully functioning and dare I say it "beautiful" program.
This is where editing is going. There is no doubt. The program is far from perfect but it is like the invention of the car when everyone else was using horse and cart.
The best thing about this is that we are the ones at the cutting edge. (Pun intended) we are the ones getting the jump on everyone else. So the more people attacking the program just means more work for us when the tide turns.
Let them keep their heads in the sand I say.

Sean Lander replied to the topic 'Optical Flow Greyed Out' in the forum.Glue tool! Love it! Yes deleting "through" edits is something that is sadly lacking from FCP X. Just delete everything to the right and drag it out using the position tool to return to normal programming.
