editors lounge

It's the night before NAB which gives us the perfect reason to show these videos from the recent Editor's Lounge Pre-NAB Discussion Panel. Lots of speculation across the board and NLE manufacturers, comments include 'Avid is 'stodgy' and 'FCPX will win the race.' Interesting.

Apple win a patent for the Heads Up Display in Motion

apple patent hud motion

If you make graphics with Motion then the Heads Up Display or 'HUD' will be no stranger to you. You won't however be seeing behaviors controlled by a similar GUi in a competing application as Apple has just bagged themselves a patent.

We sat down to watch the Apple presentation from San Jose today in glorious HD on our Apple TV. Mac Mini and iPad Mini were no big deal for us, we were completely sold on the new iMac. From December this could be the fastest Final Cut Pro X machine you can buy.

What could the new MacPro look like? How about a flexible modular design?

zigich new macpro

3D designer Peter Zigich has been using Apple workstations for over 20 years. He like many others has been frustrated by the lack of a MacPro update. So why not let the imagination run and design your own? Well that's exactly what he did!

Final Cut Pro X, Motion and Compressor all get updates post WWDC Keynote

FCPX_10_0_5

Before you reach for the download button, these are all minor updates to add resolution to the apps for the new retina display MacBook Pros. No new features so if you are mid-project then maybe not a good idea.

An update to FCPX for new retina screen MacBook Pros but the Mac Pro just gets a quiet update on the Mac Store

fcpx_retina_macbook_pro

A mix of excitement and disappointment after this year's Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco this year. The new MacBook Pro with a retina display running an updated Final Cut Pro looks gorgeous, but same form factor MacPros without Thunderbolt are a bit of a letdown.
