Digieffects convert all their plugins to FXPlug for GPU acceleration in Final Cut Pro

Today Digieffects announced that they now support Apple's FxPlug technology across their range of plugins. This should bring speed gains in Final Cut Pro by utilising the GPU instead of the CPU.

Filmlight have announced a Baselight colour grading plugin for Final Cut Pro

Hot news indeed. This plugin gives editors direct access to Baselight functionality within Final Cut Pro.  You can render the Baselight settings within Final Cut or export them as an XML list to load into a Baselight system. Could this just last 4 days before the new FCP is announced?

Sony launch a compact all-in-one 3D camcorder at NAB, the HXR-NX3D1

Sony are going full tilt into 3D, with the HXR-NX3D1. All the tech stuff after the break but what's of particular interest to us is that support is scheduled to enable conversion of MVC footage recorded with the HXR-NX3D1 to CineForm codec using the popular CineForm Neo3D/NeoHD as a Codec Plug-In for 3D editing. Looks like GoPro made a good decision in buying CineForm.

Zacuto launch new Z-EVF at NAB

We're big fans of the Zacuto rigs, but that goes hand in hand with being 5D addicts.  Jens from Zacuto talks about the Z-EVF at NAB. Nice drop test. Apparently they've done drop tests from up to twelve feet high, so fairly robust as well.

Sony launch the F65, a top-end CineAlta motion picture 8K CMOS monster

Sony are outdoing themselves at NAB with new cameras at the moment, and at fcp.co towers we definitely want one of these beauties. The F65, even the name sounds like a combat jet, looks so cool, take a peak at some of those specs - 120fps, 4K resolution and a rotary shutter to prevent that rolling shutter problem, this is one very nice piece of kit. No retail price available as of yet, but our guess is you'd probably have to re-mortgage to be able to buy one and all the lenses that go along with it. Still we can dream.

Matrox add Thunderbolt to their product range with an adapter for exisiting units and built in support by July

FCP X Presentation: The Bootleg Experience

Those FCPX Presentations filmed from iPhones, iPads, Canons, Nikons, and Panasonics are starting to spring up across the net, like Pink Floyd bootlegs. Some have been filmed from bags, other like Emmanuel Pampuri's managed to get both presentation party and screen in shot, and with a somewhat frenzied sting on the front!
