In an earlier post I mentioned that I didn't like people offering things for free but making you sign up for a mailing list. Since personal information of any kind is now a marketable commodity, the offer is no longer a "free" one.
Why can't members comment on those pages of this site?
Facebook has been shown to abuse people's privacy in many recent international news articles. Some of us want nothing to do with being tracked like that.
Why can't this site be for our members, with open access to the site's different features, offers & info without needing any authorization from exterior sites?
I know from running other forums in the past that web-bot spam posting is a royal PITA to deal with. It is a reality.
On the other hand I am well aware that every time you give your email for a freebie, and sign up for FB & Twitter, you are allowing folks you don't know to make money off of your info. I also refuse to particate in that and tend to not purchase or recommend those developers. Remember I'm a nation wide trainer and speak face to face with hundreds of FCP users every year.
I agree that the contests here restricting themselves to FB or Twit users only is a bit predjudice and/ or elitest.
But yes, it is a tricky situation with no readily packaged solution. I hate having to use FB to comment on news stories, but I do. And I feel degraded when I, an active and (imho) valued member, am excluded from drawings because I refuse to stupidly myself with a Twitter account.
This discussion is needed, so thanks for bringing it up. I am interested in people's comments.
