Please please please can we have a FCP X for new users?

Or FCPX for Pros.

For the purpose of?

And define "pros" specifically.

Not quite grokking what you're suggesting?

Are you asking for another version of Final Cut Pro that's akin to what Final Cut Pro Express was?

I was asking for a dedicated place (forum) where new users could go to ask basic questions.

Only that I find some really interesting conversations get buried quite quickly by topics asking very basic things over and over.

Nothing wrong with it in my view. I reckon it would be better for the new users.
How many posts do we see where people claim they feel intimidated or afraid to ask questions?
Surely a place dedicated to helping new users would make them feel more at ease?

So, define "new user" and what a "basic question" is.

To me a new user is someone who has just purchased FCP X and it's probably their first experience with an NLE or they have moved up from something like iMovie.

Basic questions like how to do slow mo, how to colour grade, adjust transitions, how to share video on the web. Stuff like that.

It's just that the FCPX Category has more than double the topics of all the others combined. It can move so fast that people's questions sometimes go unanswered because they get pushed on to page two.

Anyway it's just a suggestion. Thought it might help is all.

How about this idea; when a question gets posted in the appropriate section, those experts that answer it can opt to click vote on what they assess the level of difficulty is. As more votes accumulate an average rating is ascribed to the question's thread. These could be classified by colors Green for Easy, right up to Red or Black for Expert level. Much like the Black Diamond ski runs.

This way, when someone who fancies themselves as a bit of an expert arrives in the forum, they can click the list button to have all the questions re-listed by levels of difficulty (rather than most recent). Then they can decide whether they want to devote a few minutes to nurturing someone, or bypass the newbies & only deal with the more meaty matters.

Very interesting idea! Would be difficult to manage I suspect but hell I'd be happy to have a go.

Love the rating idea.

Having done a quick google search for K2 & joomla there are solutions out there.

e.g. this one

extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi.../k2-extensions/19253

It is just the first one Google threw up.

But with a simple star system posts could be sorted etc

The questions that this poses for me is who decides what posts get what ratings.

Which has more of a whiff of moderation...

So is moving/copying/backing up Events and Projects a beginner question or a professional question?
