Does anyone have suggestions on how I install FCP 6 aka Final Cut Studio 2 on the late 2013 rMBP with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD? The laptop does not have a dvd drive.
Thanks
Justine

Couple of ways. Find a Mac with a DVD Drive, make a Disk Image (.dmg file) of each DVD, put them on a flash drive or some other portable drive, run them from that.

Apple does make a DVD drive you plug in to the USB port. As do some other third parties.

If you have a Mac with a DVD drive, put both Macs on the same network, and you can Share the DVD drive from one to the other.

FCP 6? Wow, that's a huge step backwards. I assume there is a specific reason for that?

You can't install FCS 2 on Mavericks. The installer doesn't work anymore. FCS 3 would work AFAIK.

Hi, I'm not totally sure that this will work, but it worked with Lion/Mountain Lion. You'll need an external DVD drive and a copy of Snow Leopard. On the Snow Leopard disk you can install Rosetta. You'll need Rosetta to use the Final Cut Studio 2 installer. When the software is installed it should work as normal.

Hi cgbier, I have FCS2 and upgraded to FCP7, is there a way around installing on Mavericks, that you know of. I remember reading on another forum, that when you get to the point where rosetta is required , you just put in your serial number instead. As far as I remember you put in your old FCS2 serial number. Unfortunately the link I had saved has disappeared. Can you help?

Sorry, man, I wouldn't know. I have left FCS behind quite a while ago.

My old machines didn't have a problem, as FCS was already installed when I upgraded. With the machines I bought with Mavericks preinstalled I didn't even bother.

X rules ;)
