So...I've moved a bunch of plugins from the local storage location to the system storage location and of course they are offline.

So...how do I tell FCPX where they now are?

Are you talking about the "Motion Templates" folder that MUST reside in the user's Movies folder? Not sure what you mean, can we get some details?

If you mean the "Motion Templates" folder, you can't tell FCPX where it is, it has to be in the user's Movies folder.

That's wrong.

There are 2 ( or more* :cheer: ).

Best place IMHO is the "classic" one: "/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Templates.localized" - Coremelt does use it for example as well as I do. See also FxFactory help files.
Second the 100's of user folders which help people to have fun searching for plugins

To reconnect export the lib, project or whatever as XML and replace the paths .
Not real fun but it works.

Thanks Andreas- yes you are correct it is one of two folders.

I have freelancers in and want them to have their own login so that they can't get their own slack notifications etc and not mine.

The best way (I thought )to do this would be to relocate the plugins to the system folder making them universally available.

But I am experiencing issues.

1. Any project with plugins created before the move are offline and as FCPX.guru points out cannot be relinked.
2. Having moved the plugins from the user folder to the system, FCFactory lovingly reinstalls them at startup resulting in duplicates.

This some in the local folder and some in the system folder is causing a massive tangle for me and I was hoping there would be some sort of resource or workflow about how to manage multiple users on one machine access plugins.

Maybe I will have to experiment and write the resource myself

Being able to store plugins locally in a library helps but in a way confuses the issue more as now there are three potential storage locations for effects.

I will continue to experiment but any advice is welcome.

May I wake this question. I have the same issue. Build a title for subtitles. Gave it to the translator who installed it on FCP on her Mac. Got the library back but all the titles are offline.

I exported the xml and replaced it with the right path. Now I have the title effect back again but the written text disappeared. It's only visible in the information tab. I can copy past it but is there another solution?
