I'm looking for a way to automatically import files from a folder into a specific project (a watched folder), so that every time I add a new asset into the folder, it becomes available inside FCPx?

If this is not possible, are there any companion media management apps that allow it?

I'd so love to have watch folders for FCPX as a built-in function. Would make reality TV and larger broadcast productions so much faster and easier to ingest. Feedback page...

Not sure if you could do this with an Automator script or not.
Yes, most all FCPX friendly MAM systems will do this.

I would check if CommandPost has that feature included in its arsenal of hacks.

Yes, CommandPost does watch folders! Just discovering this little utility, and really liking it. These are the things that should have been put into FCPX long ago. If Apple purchased this and integrated it all, as is, into FCPX, that would be amazing.

I have been working with Commandpost for quite some time. What I like about it is that it adds "à la carte" functionality to FCP X without bloating the user interface and (most important) without affecting the core code, i.e. the speed and stability of the application.

Many of these functions (watch folders, enhanced tc overlay, virtual touch bar, shared XML, moving markers, up to a scrolling timeline...) are not really important to all FCP X users. So you just choose whatever extra functions would be useful for your specific needs for any given project, and this extra functionality will be available to you whenever you launch FCP X. I think that is better than adding tons of little options to the core application/UI that only few people really want.
