Hi !

I'm learning Final Cut. I already created some projects and today I dont understand why I can't insert a rush between 2 others. It inserts above my others rushes. May be I did something but I dont know what ... Can you help me :) ?

Have a nice day !

Not really sure what you mean, but from what I think I understand, you're getting Connected Clips.

Select the clip, or clips you want to use in the Browser.
Place the playhead where you want to insert them in the Timeline.
Use "W" for the Insert Edit command.

Q = Connected Clip (Connects to primary storyline where playhead is, non-ripple edit)
W = Inserted Clip (inserted into primary storyline where playhead is, ripple edit)
E= Appended Clip (added to the end of the primary storyline regardless of playhead position, non-ripple edit)
D= Overwrite Clip (placed clip in primary storyline at playhead, overwriting any existing media, non-ripple edit)

in your other post, you got some valuable advices conc. tutorials …
some general hint: start with learning the common 'lingo'.

As you see in Ben's reply, the ol' British term 'rushes' can confuse even Silverbacks like him ;)
rushes = clips

sorry for patronising, but a common language makes communication easier … (says the alien, LOL)

I know what rushes are, it's a very old term. But what does "It inserts above my others rushes." mean? How do you "insert" above? I take "insert" to mean place it in the midst of other things, an insert or wedge edit "above"? Wouldn't that be a connected clip? Or is it targeting a connected storyline to do an insert edit?

A screen shot or two would be helpful.

… love illustrations!
I guess, as géraldine uses rushes instead of clips, you can safely replace 'insert' with 'apply to timeline/project'. And a connected clip is above, an inserted between other clips... hm?

Guess, for me, as a non-native speaker, it's easier to understand the off-standards description ;)
