Hi

I have iMac 5K 2017, one mac book pro and one Lacie thunderbolt 2TB HD.
Please comment on my setup on editing
1. FCPX installed individually on each machine with their motion template
2. My Project, all media files, cache file and backup file are in Lacie.
Please advise if this thing is right? also with the above setup, I find when I click on "Titles" or "Generators", the iMac hangs for a while, even though it is i7, 4.2 GHz, and 40 GB. My MacBook Pro is not that powerful and it hangs for more time.

Please advise is there any optimization I need to do?

It can take a few seconds for Titles, Generators, Music, etc, to list all of the content. The larger that library of content is, the longer it can take. But only a few seconds.

You don't have to backup the Cache, as all fo that can be regenerated easily. But if you have the backup space for it, that's fine.

This may not be what you asked for but since you have everything on one drive, I would recommend investing in a second hard drive and back up everything (except cache) from your main external hard drive to the second external hard drive.
You can either use Time Machine (free with macOS) and exclude the respective cache folders or invest in a software like Carbon Copy Cloner and set up backup task using it. This way you would not lose everything should your hard drive fail.
