when you have your Optimized ProRes Media in a external folder on a hard drive it seems you can't move them in an other location , even on the same volume, without losing the "link" for ever

Or is there a trick ?

There are tricks:
www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...ate-optimized-medias

(recreate, consolidate, relink, copy to new library)

What happened that you need/want to do this? Do you need to do this?

thank you I will study that link

that's because I inadvertently included that folder in my daily programmed backup (I don't do that usually because we don't need to back up those files that can always be regenerated in case... )

I optimise sequence by sequence after rougth cut, so daily backup is longer with those ProRes files . I have changed that external folder from now on. (older Optimised Files stay "linked" where they are.

no big deal anyway .
