I've searched and searched and cannot figure out why I can't get a proper rec2020 waveform to appear in FCPX. I have the library set to Rec2020, the project set to 2020. I tried importing footage captured internally (GH5 VLog-L)) and am using v-log captured on a Ninja Inferno in Prores. From what I have seen/read, FCPX should automatically switch the waveform to match the project, but it does not, and on two different computers, with up to date versions of the software, I am stuck at rec709.
Also, can anyone tell me why the VLog-L clips show up in the inspector as rec-709, when they are actually VLog, V Gamut? I have seen tutorials where people are happily editing vLog-L from the GH5 in HDR Rec2020PQ with a rec2020PQ waveform, but I cannot repeat it, and canot seem to change the waveform manually.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
As a follow up, any tips on how to use my Ninja inferno as a HDR reference monitor hooked up to my iMac Pro would also be appreciated.
