I'm currently working on a short music documentary that was shot on the Sony Venice CineAlta and for the life of me I can't import it into FCPX 10.4.6

The codec is MXF

Do I need to rewrap this to prores or is there a way to bring it in natively?

I couldn't find the Venice on Apple's supported cameras for FCPX, but depending on what actual codec is inside the MXF wrapper, there may be a way to do it. You can check Sony's site to see if they have a utility for FCPX import, or you can use Sony's Catalyst browse application (recently updated) to do your ProRes conversion.

You can also possibly convert the material with EditReady. The Venice CineAlta is a new full frame cinema camera, but EditReady worked with the previous version for all formats and frame sizes: www.divergentmedia.com/devices/supported...nfo/sony/pmw-f55/155
