I have a bunch of real macs (older ones) and a hackintosh. For now I'm using the hackintosh for FCP. I'm new to FCP. The hackintosh has a 1 TB Samsung NVMe and editing feels extremely fast (I did some NLE stuff 15 years ago -- what a difference now!!).
I also have a home-built NAS (freenas) that is accessible over 1 gig ethernet LAN. I've tried editing briefly from a library on the NAS but it's not even close to viable (endless beachballs).
My question is around best practices for basically swapping events and/or libraries (whatever you recommend) into "fast storage" (the local NVMe drive from the NAS. So far I've been using Move Event to move stuff off NVMe to another library on the NAS. Not sure if this is how you guys do it?
First post here so sorry if I missed any pinned articles that cover this, or if I should have searched more thoroughly.
