Hey Guys

I have a PSD-File with different layers, each layer is a shape. Now I'd like to edit the fill and outline color of this shapes in Motion 5. But I don't manage to do it as Motion treats the shapes just as it would treat pictures.

To be more precise: I have a country map where every district is a layer and want to animate that map so that some districts change color at a certain time. Kind of like a US-election map that turns states red or blue...

I tried different PSD-export settings in Affinity Designer as well as PSD-export from Pixelmator. In both apps I can edit fill and outline color with no problems.

Now did I just miss some basic operation in motion or is this simply not possible? I thought I have done this in the past with no problems but I might confuse myself.
I know I could use the district-layers as masks for differently colored shapes. But there has to be an easier way...?

Hey, Michi,

From what I understand PSD layers are turned into images when imported into Motion.

This is something that has been requested in Affinity and Vectornator. My advice is to either create the imagery fully in Motion or do all the creation, outlines, fills, etc in the designer App you use.

Also, we started a Feature request for Shape Exports in Vectornator: feedback.vectornator.io/posts/699/export...R6JejcBau1qLPpBCQVrE

Hey Deyson

Thanks for the reply. I was really thinking I'm doing something wrong. So thanks for the explanation.
Let's hope Affinity and other design apps add that option. Or that Motion one day supports .svg files.

Look at mO2 for sure. It supports SVGs, and even though it is a 3D modeling plug-in, you can keep the SVGs flat.
