Hi,

I'm trying to work out the best Graphics Card set up for my mac

Here's my Mid 2010 Mac Pro specs:

OS X 10.9.1
Final Cut 10.1 / Davinci 10 / After Effects CC
Processor - 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory - 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics (pluged into monitor) - ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Graphics 2 - NVIDIA Quadro 4000

Can anyone tell me if the graphics cards confict against each other at all? I used to have just the Quadro 4000 installed as a replacement for the ATI.

I just want the quickest possible setup for Final Cut, Davinci and After Effects to render properly.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

From what I've read, FCP X 10.1 will only utilize two GPUs if they are the same exact card. Two 5770s will probably get you around ~45 seconds on a BruceX test.

Your current config will mostly only help you in Davinci. Probably AE too. The Quadro will be great for AE and Davinci, but I'm not sure if how well it would perform on FCP X 10.1 alone.

I would take out one card at a time and run the BruceX test on each card separately. If the Quadro is anything like my Nvidia GTX 285, it will suck in FCP X 10.1. Apple took away the Nvidia web driver in Mavericks, which caused my 285 to not use OpenGL drivers anymore (I believe that is what happened from what I've read).

Hope that helps!
