G-RAID failed. Help please! 17 Aug 2016 19:18 #79276

Hi!

My G-RAID with Thunderbolt (www.g-technology.com/products/g-raid-thunderbolt-2) failed. I contacted the support. They were really nice and they are going to send me a new drive as it's inside the warranty period.

I was using RAID-1. My question is: when the new drive arrives is just a matter of plug it in? How does it know it should copy from the “good drive” to the new drive and not the other way around? Also, what happens if I put a driver with different files? I am not sure if the drive they are going to send will be formatted for Mac. I don't want to do anything wrong when the drive arrives. Has it happened to anyone?

Thank you for the help!

Thiago

You should only need to put the new drive in to replace the bad one, and the RAID enclosure should take care of the rest. G-Tech should have instructions on doing this.

Is LaCie better than G-Tech? Depends on who you ask. I don't think there's any empirical data to prove one way or the other.
