I just had my latest app accepted on the App Store.

It's a free download that contains various templates for FCPX, at the moment there's not a lot and only 3 free templates, but I plan on updating it regularly keeping a similar percentage of free content to what's there just now.

I have another 9 templates ready to go, but also have 3 in progress, so when their ready the first updates will be added.

At the moment, the free content includes a simple title with various animation options, a wipe transition that reveals an image/video through a gap in the wipe and the final version of the strobe effect that I uploaded here a while back, now titled "Free Strobe".

it can be found here:

NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Thanks for looking.

@mylene - I just downloaded it from the app store. No credit card required as its a FREE download.

You do need to have an Apple ID to pull it down, but that's not the same as a credit card.

Can you tell us why Template Master can't be installed on OS X 10.6.8 systems?

Thanks for pointing that out Alex, I hand't noticed. Just spoke to my developer and he's going to do an update to fix it.

And as pointed out by grailz, no need for credit cards, just search "Nocommotions" on the app store, thanks.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification Ben. I set my account up the day I got my Mac, I couldn't even remember needing my credit/debit card.

I suppose it all fits together though. For someone to have bought "FCPX" they must have an app store account already, and to use "Template Master" they need "FCPX". So it's not really an issue.

CC or an apple gift card. At least it used to work that way.

I don't think that is correct. I didn't set up my account with a credit card. Apple states in the link before that an Apple ID doesn't require a credit card either.

If I'm missing something, please point me in the right direction.

You do not need a CC to register for an iTunes/App Store account. But the only way to register for an account without using a CC or iTunes Gift Card, is attempt to purchase a free item, then register. Once you start the registration process, under the credit card section there will be an additional radial button with the option of "None"

I browsed around google to find out a bit about this.

I can't confirm this but it's worth a try if anyone has any problems. It seems you don't get the "None" option if registering with an existing apple ID, but if you create a new one following Mikey's instructions the option is there.

This has now been updated to run on OSX 10.6. While doing that I stuck some more content on there. Included are 3 more free templates.

An effect titled "Inner Drop Shadow", a simple inner drop shadow with controls almost as standard for a shadow type effect.

A title called "Graffiti", which is actually quite versatile and not just for the old school graffiti style I was originally looking for.

And a transition, "flare Out" which is based on a fade enhanced with a lens flare which can be key framed to give a wipe/fade transition.

A very interesting new distribution and revenue system for "plugin" developers. Very cool. Like FxFactory on the App Store. Clever.

Sadly when I open Template Master v1.1 on OS X 10.6.8, it stays on the splash screen showing a progress wheel in the left-hand column.

Just went to the 'In App purchases' section of developer.apple.com and found a tech note that says:
> In-App Purchase is available on Mac OS X starting with Mac OS X 10.7

I assume Template Master's call to the Mac App Store to ask for a list on in-app purchases doesn't work in 10.6.8.

Sorry for bringing up the OS version thing earlier!

Thanks Ben, and no problem Alex. Now I'm just wondering why they accepted the update.

It looks like it's not going to run on anything before Lion after all, if anyone running 10.6.8 reads this they can save themselves the bother of downloading it. I'll have it put back to 10.7 on the next updates.

How do I remove all "Nocommotions" plug ins, because all I get are blue screens and then my FCPX crashes:(

There should be no reason that my templates are causing FCPX to crash, they are just Motion Templates with no additional code or anything that would make for an incompatible plugin. They are really just part of how FCPX and Motion already work.

Would you mind telling me what version of FCPX you are using, and what version of OSX?

If you want to remove them go to you "User" directory, "Movies", "Motion Templates". And within the relevant "Effects", "Generators", "Titles" or "Transitions" folders you will find a "Nocommotions" folder. Move this tot he trash.

Just to offer additional information for anyone worried about installing these templates.

Through email we discovered that this issue is on FCPX 10.0.1, I'll update here when Jesus updates to 10.0.3 to see if the problem goes away.
