NAB 2017 was a blast! This year, LumaForge had the opportunity to host both the Faster, Together Stage at the Courtyard Marriott and our Workflow Suite on the 59th floor of the Encore hotel. We also participated in the FCPX Guru Gathering, the Colorist Mixer, the SuperMeet and even threw a party at the Encore.

We were fortunate to have speakers from around the world come and talk about post production at the Faster, Together Stage. People like Mark Spencer, Steve Martin, Roger Bolton, Denver Riddle, Michael Cioni, and many others came to talk about how to make storytelling through video a more efficient and collaborative process.

Our very own Sam Mestman even gave a presentation on our perspective on post production and on a few updates to our products. Of special interest are the diagrams talking about the collaboration between various departments. Sam also mentioned our new hybrid systems, that combine both SSDs and spinning disk drives. These systems are designed for customers who need extremely high speed storage for things like 4K OpenEXR and DPX image sequences.

The Workflow Suite acted both as a quite place to get away from the floor and a fun place to try new tools and technologies. There were both a Jellyfish Mobile and a Jellyfish Hybrid Tower to edit from. We also had FCPX, Resolve, and Fusion across MacOS, Windows and Linux machines. Lumberjack Systems, Intelligent Assistance and CoreMelt were all also demoing products in the Workflow Suite.

Many thanks to Blackmagic Design for providing Ursa Mini 4.6K cameras for the Faster, Together Stage and to Editstock for providing 4K & 5K RED raw footage for the Workflow Suite. The footage from the Ursa Minis is beautiful. Even shooting at 1080p, it was obviously much sharper an more detailed than a traditional HD camera.

The footage from Editstock was beautiful and helped demonstrate the throughput of the Jellyfish. Misha at EditStock is an amazing guy with an amazing product. If you ever want to get practice editing a specific genre or want to try to get into scripted editing, the projects from EditStock are outstanding.

More videos from the LumaForge Faster, Together stage soon!
