A large timecode window has been on many FCPX editor's wish lists for a long time. The wait is over. Timecode is a free plugin for Final Cut Pro X that gives a resizable floating timecode readout.
Yes we have complained about the small timecode window in FCPX as well, especially when you are working with a producer who has to lean over to get a timecode 'out' on the fly.
This new free plugin from FxFactory gives a large adjustable timecode display that you can position anywhere on the screen. Not only can you resize the box, but by right clicking you can also adjust the colours too.
The readout matches FCPX's display exactly, including the font, but you don't get the trim status notification on the right hand side.
The plugin is free, but you do have to download and install or update FxFactory to 5.0.3. This means you'll need to be running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 or later as well.
The downsides? There aren't any! We have been testing the plugin out for the last month without problems, it just adds a very useful feature to FCPX. We can only thank the boys at FxFactory for offering this to the FCPX community for free.
