trying to put FCPX footage into Logic Pro 9....... Apple has to make them talk to each other, and Logic hasn't been updated since before FCP X was released.
In Logic Pro, go to File > Open Movie.
This will open the selected movie into a floating window. Close that window if you desire.

In Pixlemator (or Photoshop) crop out whatever and isolate it.
Import that newly created PNG back in FCP X.

Proper way of importing media I record on SanDisk Extreme HD Video 30 MB/s 32 GB card.
Another thought - may be it is connected to a Picture Profile settings I have set on my camera?

2gb graphics card, 1gb graphics card does it make a difference to how quick I can edit and render? 2GB GPU will give you better performance for sure. Why? Because it is a more powerful GPU overall, and FCP X/Motion 5 rely on the GPU a great deal now.
