I directed and did the VFX for this video. Shot on Epic, mounted on a Filmotechnic head controlled from the SUV in the video. The window that starts out in the bottom left of screen never cuts- it was filmed in one long take. The other footage is alt takes, b-roll and footage from GoPros and Canon HDSLRs. Edited in FCP7, color in Color, finish in AE CS5.

Very impressive. Normally I think those expanding & contracting video boxes would drive me mad, but in this video they worked perfectly. So much so, that I'd say they made the video. Is that the animation you're referring to doing in AE? Or are you talking about the gun shots, which didn't look that realistic. Is there a video tutorial somewhere that could show me how to do those split screen effects? Also please tell me what that effect is called so I know what to search for. Is it animated split screen?

Wow thanks for the responses guys, glad you like it!

The window animation was all done in AE- we edited in FCP7 and used automatic Duck (which is free now!!!) to get it in to AE. The basic compositions were established in the edit, but they needed to be moved and re-composed a lot. It took quite a long time to figure out exactly how to get from each composition to the next while maintaining the one single long take. There are a couple of moments I wish were better, but overall it came out exactly how we planned.

@MJMProductions All of the windows moving around are nested comps within comps. The basic layout was in FCP, but animating it was a whole new kind of beast. There's a lot more info in that blog post I linked to.

Not to take away from anything, fantastic video, but the split windows and animations could have been done very easily inside FCP. I did a series for someone a few years back very similar and never left FCP7. Just FYI.

Basically animating Position, Scale, & Crop parameters. Nesting Sequences occasionally help, too.

No matter how it was done, very good job. Something to be proud of before.
