Hey Michael,

Checked out your reel and here's my feedback:

- I think your strongest stuff is at the end. The protest/rally footage works well (tells a story and moves at a decent clip). But its at the END. Problematic because a lot of people won't wade through three or four minutes of your reel to get to the good stuff. Put best work up front.

- Your reel is almost over five minutes long. That's waaaaay to long. Minute and a half to two minutes (and that's on the long end.)

- I was completely confused by the football footage and the Michael Jackson footage. While watching I was wondering why this was included as I'm doubtful you shot/directed that footage. Alarm bells go off in my head and if I'm sifting through a stack of demo reel links, those that cause me to start asking questions like that are crossed off the list.

- If I were interested in contacting you, how would I do it? There's not contact information at the beginning or end of the reel. I could possibly try tracking you down through your vimeo account, but why make it difficult for folks to hire you? Explicitly give your contact info in your reel.

- Also on that note, let folks know what it is you do. Are you an editor? Director? Compositor? Shooter? All of the above? Depending on who you're sending your reel to, customize it and label it.

Any sort of demo: music, acting, editing, etc, should be no longer than 2-3 minutes max. Most folks who review this stuff will rarely get through the first 30 seconds to one minute. People making these decisions make them quickly, even if they sit through the whole thing, they've decided if they like you in the first 30 seconds. Just like when you meet people for the first time, you've made full assessments of them within the first 15 seconds, even if you're not aware of it.
