When using FCP7 with Compressor 3, I was able to setup a application icon on my dock for the Batch Monitor as it is a stand-alone application. However, with the new Share Monitor in Compressor 4, it's doesn't appear to be a stand-alone application with it's own icon that I can set on the Dock.

Am I just not seeing the application or what's the deal? When I launch a bunch of video to encode via droplets, there is no way that I have found to open the Share Monitor to view the encoding process unless I open Compressor and then click on the Share Monitor, then I can close Compressor.

That's how it works now.

I don't normally care to see the share monitor anyway. When my encode is done, it's done.

There is a way to just get back what you want. Go to Compressor, open Share Monitor from there.

In the dock you will see the Share Monitor.
Right Click it, and select: always show in Dock.

Voila.

It's still a stand alone application, but I think it's hidden somewhere in Application Support.

I *do* have noticed, that every time I start Compressor 4 now, it asks me to put sharing on (for my cluster with my multiple cores), and if I close it, it says it will stop the sharing. This stops me from stopping Compressor while doing an encode.
I used to just start the render in Compressor, and then close it, and just have the Batch Monitor open. Now I keep both open, but with the method above you can most definitely only open Share Monitor.

Okay, I'll try that then thanks. Yeah, I like to have the share monitor open when I close Compressor so I can monitor the status of my encode. Most of the time I don't even open compressor as I simply drop files onto droplets to encode. Then, in order to monitor the progress, I would have to open compressor to open share, so it's kind of a PITA!
