In case you have Toast that will do it for you can also look into DVD Spanner that might do this for you.
OR Blu-Ray :woohoo:

Unfortunately, Toast is not free.
Might try loekjehe.home.xs4all.nl/Split&Concat/
Never used it, but worth a try.
Assuming you don't want to compress, if compression OK, you can export to compressor; use share under FCPX; export as QT, > import into iDVD if you have it.
Double layer dvd gives you 8.5GBs.
You might even be able to import to iTunes and then burn to multiple dvds. Anyone try this? iTunes has a built in spanner under burn, never used for a movie before.
I use Toast if I need to span, but usually just data back-up for archives.
Try searching, or use one of the sites for free software, like softpedia, macupdate, etc
Might post back your results.

Well if you are using a Blu-Ray disc, you would not need to span. A single layer BR is 25GB, DL = 50GB and now there is triple = 100GB or Quad at 128GB, the last 2 are BRXLs and the read/write drives are still $$$. The standard BR RW drives are getting pretty cheap now.
You do know Mac OSX does not by itself deal with BR so you need a program like Toast Titanium Pro 11. Roxio charges extra for the Pro version which adds BR support. ($20.00 I think) Toast 11 standard MSRP is $99.00 but is often available with bundled packages and is discounted by retailers other than Roxio. I got the pro version with a number of other programs for $50.00 a year ago or so.
You should also be aware Roxio support stinks. Blu-Ray support even more so. If it is a one time need see if someone you know or a video transfer business can do it for you. (Local college video dept may be able to help)
You never mentioned if compression is ok, or what program(s) you are using / have. Compressor would do a decent job down to 8.5 GB for DL-DVD. Wouldn't be full HD resolution. Also programs like Handbrake, VLC and several other free programs could either compress or possibly span.
Finally, you could simply split the video file into two and create 2 projects/dvds. Spanning or splitting dvds ends up needing to have the dvd changed in the player anyway. You can control where split occurs and add titling "end disk 1, please insert disk 2". Enable auto play on disk 2.
Just some thoughts. Good Luck

Thanks, Greg. I'm actually not using BD for video. My "market" is still SD (I w even asked for VHS the other day).
I'd need the BD to back up the CF cards from the camera. Most of my gigs are seminars, so I go through two 64GB cards per day. I doubt that my BD burner will handle the newer types of BD, so I was wondering if Toast also works with data.

I got Toast already. Just never used it.

My hardware budget was cut to zero - no chance to buy that RAID array that was planned - but I have a whole mother load to spend on supplies that has to be depleted by Sep 30 (working for the gummint). I can buy a whole year production of BD.

Yes Toast works with Data. Click on Data tab, drag & drop files or browse (select), select burner, number of copies, burn.
I'm using Toast 11 now. Blu-ray began w 10 or 11, don't remember. Dvd data spanner works too.
Thought you were doing finished video.

Nope, no finished video. I'd just need to span 64gb CF cards over a bunch of BD without screwing up the data.

Thanks again for your help.

as much I am fan for Blu-Ray (the best media for HD delivery) I would still consider hard drives for back up.
They are cheaper then burnable plastic discs.

Maybe a FireWire drive??
