Anandtech has posted a review of the new Retina MBP including speed test. You can read it here: www.anandtech.com/show/6023/the-nextgen-...etina-display-review

Has a section on FCPX comparison. His review unit is the upgrade version.
Like the tech reviews on that site as they tend to be very thorough.

Waiting delivery on my rMBP, 16GB. Holding off on re-edit on a previous video to compare new hardware and FCPX vs FCP7. Will be using 7toX app to transfer.
So far like the latest versions of X (10.0.5), early release not so much.

And all because you can't open the case easily! omg... really?

I'm not finding an FCP X section of that review. Specifically where is it? Does he do a multicam stream test?

It has les to do with "can't open the case easily" as more many components are fixed soldered and are no more easily exchangeable.

This will give them a bad image... :unsure:http://ifixit.org/2884/apple-ditches-green-standard-cuts-off-federal-agencies-from-apple-products/ wrote:
Apple’s decision to opt out of the most basic of eco-standards demonstrates that, despite the costs, design supersedes the environment.

Given that my day job is in ecological design and consulting, I too am very disappointed in Apple's decision. Please note that Apple has withdrawn all products from EPEAT not just the rMBP. Personally, I do not think this is even a design only decision, $$ are most likely involved, as well as preventing 3rd party changes to its products. I think this will backfire on them. Already getting flack and lost customer base. If design only, then there are multiple alternatives to gluing down the batteries, etc...

Apple has issued a statement: www.loopinsight.com/2012/07/10/apple-res...s-to-epeat-concerns/

I'm still not satisfied. Apple should continue in world leadership in these issues, not cut and run. While it should be noted that just because Apple has pulled out of EPEAT does not mean it doesn't practice good environmental standards, but they have reduced their accountability.
EPEAT like all other standards should be updated regularly, but it is important that Apple is a stakeholder in that effort. If as they state they believe that EPEAT does not go far enough to measure environmental impacts, they should be pushing for adoption of higher inclusive standards from inside.

EPEAT even admits their standards are outdated, themselves. What does not being able to use a phillips screw driver to open components have to do with anything, anyway? It's a ridiculous standard with no basis in being environmentally sound. The design has NOTHING to factually do with being environmentally sound, not at all.

OWC has third party changes.

The more compact, economical design has nothing to do with anything but that it's a great laptop computer. I feel this is all just a silly argument, much ado about nothing.

OK Apple has now rescinded its decision to exit EPEAT. Admits mistake. Retina MBP is listed on EPEAT list. And I'll stick by my statement above and just say environmental issues are very important.
Here's just one link to many, or Google away...www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/07/13/a...s_back_on_epeat.html

And still EPEAT even admits their standards are outdated, themselves.

Yep, that ship was running much tighter when His Holy Jobness was running things. We shall see...

Better to do you own "good job" than follow someone elses "half assed" job standards.

Well it looks like Apple is going back to be green. :woohoo:
We’ve recently heard from many loyal Apple customers who were disappointed to learn that we had removed our products from the EPEAT rating system. I recognize that this was a mistake. Starting today, all eligible Apple products are back on EPEAT.

It’s important to know that our commitment to protecting the environment has never changed, and today it is as strong as ever. Apple makes the most environmentally responsible products in our industry. In fact, our engineering teams have worked incredibly hard over the years to make our products even more environmentally friendly, and much of our progress has come in areas not yet measured by EPEAT.

For example, Apple led the industry in removing harmful toxins such as brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). We are the only company to comprehensively report greenhouse gas emissions for every product we make, taking into account the entire product lifecycle. And we’ve removed plastics wherever possible, in favor of materials that are more highly recyclable, more durable, more efficient and longer lasting.

Perhaps most importantly, we make the most energy-efficient computers in the world and our entire product line exceeds the stringent ENERGY STAR 5.2 government standard. No one else in our industry can make that claim.

We think the IEEE 1680.1 standard could be a much stronger force for protecting the environment if it were upgraded to include advancements like these. This standard, on which the EPEAT rating system is based, is an important measuring stick for our industry and its products.

Our relationship with EPEAT has become stronger as a result of this experience, and we look forward to working with EPEAT as their rating system and the underlying IEEE 1680.1 standard evolve. Our team at Apple is dedicated to designing products that everyone can be proud to own and use.
