I did a search on this topic and came up empty-handed, so please excuse me if it's been discussed before. I tried:-).

What is the best way to get smooth slo-mo when you have some 60fps clips to use in a 24fps project time line?

I'm a pro still shooter, but video novice and I've read things about "conforming" and such but nothing clear enough for me to grasp. Is there a way to do it all from within FCPX and not go into Motion or AE? I'm looking for a technique that doesn't throw away all the extra frames, and doesn't require the purchase of Twixtor.

Back when I was only an iMovie guy, somebody developed a little piece of software called "Movie Edit" that would just go into the header information of a 60fps clip and change it to 24fps, and so iMovie would play it in slow motion, but not throw away frames, and the slo-mo looked very nice.

I think I can still use that program before importing clips into FCPX, but I'm guessing there's a more elegant solution right in FCPX.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Work in a 24fps project. Edit your 60fps media into it. Select the 60 clip and from the retiming menu select conform. The clip will lengthen and be in slomo.

Yes, FCPX makes slo-mo almost too easy :cheer:

If you need to speed it back up to regular speed retime it to 250%.
