This is my first time posting on a forum, so please pardon me if I am not doing something correctly.

Every time I click on "window" and then "show project library," it begins to show up and then crashes immediately before I can click on any of my old projects. I tried rebooting, downloading software updates, etc.

Additional info: I just began using the program two months ago and don't have very much footage downloaded. I am using a Mac with OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53). Computer specs: 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3.

If you have any suggestions as to how I can retrieve my old projects, please let me know. The repeated crashes are just so frustrating! :(

Are you on a Mac Pro?
What GPU?
Are your Events and Projects on the system drive or on a secondary drive?

Few things standard for this.

1- Run Disk Utility and "repair" all connected drives. Try again.

2- Download the free "Preference Manager" app from Digital Rebellion (.com) and trash FCP preferences. Try again.

3- Create folders named "Unused FCP Events" and "Unused FCP Projects" (or purchase the "Event Manger X" app). Launch FCP X. If it works, move each Event back one by one until it crashes. You found the bad Event. Continue with Projects until you find a bad project.

4- Move the Final Cut Pro app from the Applications folder to the Trash. Launch the App Store, go to the Purchased tab, click the Download button for to Final Cut Pro X. Try again.

5- Run Disk Warrior. Try again.

I will try your suggestions this weekend. Thanks for the advice!

I am on an iMac AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB

I believe my events are on the system drive as I just connected an external hard drive a couple of days ago and the events were created/saved prior to this purchase. The crashes also happened without any other drives connected.

Thanks again for your suggestions. :)

Thanks so much for your help! I got rid of the program and reinstalled it as you suggested, and it appears to be working again. Yeah! Thanks again!

You can move them to the FW drive any time you wish.
