You could try rendering your captions in Motion with motion blur turned on (note that the shutter angle usually defaults to 360°, which you might want to check). Export as ProRes 4444 with transparency and composite over your edit in FCPX as before.
However, fast horizontal movements are always going to look a bit jerky in 24p footage. The only real solutions are higher frame rates and/or slower movements.
