Hi, has anyone made the same experience?

FCPX does not import files anymore, neither from an SD card nor from camera archives on HD.

The import process simply blocks (it obviously tries to render, shows no progress, then eventually fails).

Files can be read from the source directly (event thumbnails show a small camera icon).

Previous captured files behave normally.

The raw pictures are AVCHD ones from a Lumix GH2.

Since I cannot keep all my original sources connected, I cannot work anymore ...

I have fcpx 10.0.1 on several machines and I am not seeing this issue. I would try some basic troubleshooting procedures:

- repair permissions in disk utility
- trash your prefs. Either manually or get digital rebellions free tools for this.

If this doesn't work, trash the app and redownlaod from the mac app store. If you are still stuck after that give apple a call.

Digital Rebellion has another free app called Final Cut Remove, that makes sure all necessary system level files are removed so that your Final Cut app is totally gone.

I have two Macs running here, and both still ingest just fine, too.

Thanks tpayton and BenB.

I tried it all, even full reinstall after full trash with DR's Final Cut Remove, nothing worked :-(

I sometimes get this error message:

"The following clip encountered an error during import and is still referencing media on the camera: Clip Name: 2011-10-04 10:32:23 Event: TEST Original Name: Clip #1 Volume: NO NAME".

That means the clip on the SD card is corrupted. It happens. What camera make/model?

That is a bummer. Is there anything that can be done to repair it?

What is the make/model of the camera?

Helped by Apple, I tried from a test account created on the Mac for that purpose. There it works properly with all cameras (we use two different ones, that was not the issue). They believe there is a conflict with a third-party effect (that worked fine until the update). Thanks for your concern and have a great time with FCPX and other things in life!

Which third-party effect was it? Others may have the same issue.

Sure, I would have posted it if I knew which one it is. We are not even sure it is an effect. All we know: the software works properly, but only in a fresh environment.

I have had the exact same problem. It happened first with a Class 10 card. Eventually, just by repeating the process, it ended up working. But I have now also had the same problem with a Class 6 card.

There is something other than corrupted cards going on here.

It's all happened since the last update.

It sounds like a permission issue, unless you are importing to an external drive and when you did it on a new user account you imported to that user account. I had this issue when my Drobo was failing (it had all green lights), I decided to import not to my drobo but to the drive I would be editing from and I had no problem (I use the drobo as a backup, the I copy the project and events to a fast raided esata drive to edit off of). After looking into my drive and running speed tests on it (I used the Aja disk tool, but now have the really fancy looking Blackmagic Design tool that's in the app store) I saw that my drobo was only writing at 4Mbits a second (it was connected by fw800). So everytime I tried to import from either a p2 card or SD card (AC160 or HVX200) it have me that error. Try a different drive or location for the import. See if that fixes it.

So I tried to ingest to my IMac's hard drive and no problem.

Thing is, other events have been ingesting to the external hard drive(s) just fine until the update.

I think something is amiss on the Apple programming side.

You have the problem only from the Cards or in general?
