HS 10.13.1 now shows up as an update. Anyone try it yet?

I had a public beta version of 10.13.1 and notice the playback of all video media was darker on my 2015 MBP. It was weird, it showed normal when paused but as soon as you played the media, it’s like it dropped the exposure by 2-3 stops. I reverted back to 10.13 and it fixed it.

I just tested on the release version of 10.13.1 and the problem was no longer there. I’m going to work on editing something tonight and report back.

Since I am not in the middle of a project thought I might as well go ahead. For a minor upgrade it took about 12 minutes and involved a shutdown and restart done automatically by Apple much like the procedure to install High Sierra.

Any improvement in FCPX compared to 10.13?

Not seeing any difference. The only problem I had was SuperDuper wouldn't work with High Sierra so I bought a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner which did work and I like that better anyway so I am not going back. I don't use 4K or anything that would really tax my system, so I am probably not the one to find problems first, but from the time it took to download, I would say it is not a small upgrade.

yep. No hiccups found so far.

fun fact: a 10sec video conversion to h265 (QuicktimeX) needs about ~9 minutes on my low-end-of-spec configuration (2012 MacMini/16GB) … LOL!!

But I remember well my first DVD creations, hundred years ago, on some G4 powered Mac - 13h …

:woohoo:

While I can playback H265 files, I don't see any option to convert to H265 in Quicktime Player X...

And yeah, I remember those long hours to make a DVD too :silly:

very Apple-like, sophisticated hidden in the Export/Apple devices dialogue of QTX:

hevcoption.jpg

aside the checkbox no Options to tinker with… reduced the files sizes of some movies by half (!).
And: the Info-box in QTX shows no indication, if a file is h264 or h265… room for improvement ;)

I'm also wondering if anyone who saw FCP X issues with 10.13.0 saw those issues get resolved with 10.13.1. Particularly any stability issues that have been resolved.

Do NOT update to 10.13.1 - system updated last night on my 2017 iMac 3.8 and now won't allow import of still images to the timeline - even worse, some clips that are already on the timeline play . back but are invisible on the timeline!
