good film title? B) am using sliceX (am new here, and new to FCPX), to blur a license plate in a number of clips, and it often leaves a trail of blur... anyone?

was hoping it would not export out, but, in a master file, am seeing the same thing, a line of blur following the designated image.

idea? and/or a better way to do this? thanx

I use TrackX and SliceX often and haven't seen this behavior. First I'd delete all the render files for that Library. Can you post a screen shot so we can see what this "blur trail" looks like?

I'd also contact Coremelt tech support right away. They are very helpful.

am guessing it's because i'm new here, but i get this when i attempt to post a png:

Failed to upload file 'blur&friends.png': Unmet Dependencies

anyway, just emailed coremelt support, and will report back here with whatever i learn.
great forum! (but am hoping i don't have to enter a captcha with every post once i'm 'accepted here'; am typing black text on a black text box, so i can't see what i type in the captcha box).

It sounds like the tracking is off and the blur is moving slightly with the clips. Make sure the tracking mask stays visible throughout the duration of the clip. If it moves off the screen at any point it will get out of sync. Make sure your mask is large enough to recognize the movement and the blur is feathered enough inside the mask to just deal with the plate numbers. We just completed a documentary where we masked plates on several vehicles throughout the video and they all blur perfectly and remain in place as the screen pans.

hmm. i feel like i'm doing this right, but the trail still happens. for example (in case the picture i try to upload doesn't show), the shot pans to the right, the car (parked) moves to the left... and there is a trail of blur following the car...

attempting to upload an image,,,

hint from the desk:
reformat & resize pics before upload, best practice: max 1000pix wide/JPEG

I do recall that happening once where the blur was offset the track no matter what I did.
2 things i learned was to not scale or reposition the clip before applying sliceX, and in some cases stabilization can throw off sliceX.

Just leave the clip at 100 scale and entered 0,0 when tracking and after the sliceX track is applied correctly, make a compound clip and then resize, etc.

Doesn't happen to me any more but it did happen a couple times under previous versions of FCPX

coremelt confirmed receiving my files, then... nada. so the blurs were done (by a collab) with an FCPX mask... and i (of course) i deleted the sliceX work.

bottom line: all is well (but disappointed to not have resolved the sliceX issue).
