Noticed that when I open my custom sound folder I added it is not in alphabetical order anymore.
It is not inside the FCX sound folder and I have to look all over since it is not alphabetical.
Anyone else is experiencing this?

Since many versions ago (I don't remember exactly when) sounds were moved from the standard Titles/Transitions.Effects/Generators/Sound Effects browser to the new Photos/Sound browser category. If you added your custom folder to the proper location (which is HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Final Cut Pro Sound Effects) they are all sorted alphabetically by the subfolders in your custom folder. You can either copy the actual files to that location, or you can create a link to the folder to avoid excess space being used on your system drive. Once a folder is selected in the sound effects category within FCPX you can click on the NAME field in the title bar to alphabetically sort all the songs within the subfolder.

The sound folder is in the proper place. Always has been.
I just reinstalled the folder to make sure.
They are still not alphabetical.
Screen capture is just a small section of the menu so you can imagine what a hassle it is
to go through folders that are not alphabetical.

I will probably reinstall FCX and hope for the best.

Assuming your sound folder contains many other subfolders of music or sounds, can you confirm that those subfolders are arranged alphabetically? I am asking about the top level folders which may contain other subfolders of songs within them.

Yes. All alphabetical.
All folders are alphabetical.
Appleloops --> Apple --> FCP sound effects --> folders

In FCX the pull-down menu is this!!!

Maybe the next steps to try would be (in this order):
1. Remove your custom folder (or link if that's what you are using) from the FCP Sound Effects folder.
2. Restart FCPX by holding OPTION and COMMAND to delete preferences.
3. Close FCPX.
4. Add your custom sound folder (or link) back to the FCPX Sound Effects folder.
5. Reboot your mac.
6. Relaunch FCPX and check to see if anything got fixed with the sound library sorting.

I'm not sure what else to recommend.

Thanks.
Tried all that.
The whole folder structure is not alphabetical.
When I find out how to fix this I will surely post back.

I have this same issue, but not in FCP.

I have a music program called Band In A Box. When I direct it to a song in a folder that has dozens of tunes, the songs are completely non-alphabetical. Obviously this makes find a song challenging.

At finder level they are in order. This is updated version of Mohave. I feel your frustration.

Something OS related?

Yes. Finder is fine problem is within FCX.
Hopefully that will get fixed. Not much I can do for now.

Thanks.
