I've been successfully using a Steinberg UR 22 mkII USB Audio Interface for a few years now, but since the upgrade to Catalina, there is either massive distortion when trying to Record Voiceover in FCPX 10.4.7 or the Red button doesn't allow you to press it at all.
I get that the OS is now 100% 64bit and Steinberg is dropping support now...which sucks...
So I went out and bought a new Focusrite Scarlett Solo (GEN3) USB interface with 48V phantom power to use with my condenser mic. The rest of MacOS seems to work with it just fine in Garageband, etc... but again FCPX doesn't let me click the damn red record button for some reason. Scarlett Solo USB is selected as the input source, I get monitor feedback.
So... I'm curious: should I just stop using Record VO directly from FCPX!? What is everybody else doing? Using Garageband or Audacity for VO? I liked talking over my footage and b-roll, but it seems like it's really buggy right now. Any suggestions would be great!

Record Voiceover not working since Catalina

Did you give FCP All Disk Access in Security as well as audio, camera, and everything else?
How exactly do you give FCPX access to the camera and microphone? I am able to allow Full disk access but there doesn't seem to be a way to choose FCPX when selecting Camera or Microphone in the Privacy tab.
I'm on Catalina and the first time I tried using the Record Voice Over in FCPX a dialogue box popped up asking if I wanted to allow FCPX access to my microphone. There does not seem to be a way of allowing FCPX to access the microphone in the Security and Privacy Preferences through drag and drop anymore.
EDIT: MetalJesusRocks, after adding the microphone access I can access my Apogee Quartet Audio Interface in the Advanced settings in the Record Voice popover. Does your Focusrite appear there?
