I am trying to use KB as a watermark clip at the end of a video and have it rise from the lower part of a clip to the top implying 'flying'.

I have used the clip transformed as a watermark for most of the clip - Screen shot 1. I removed it from the timeline in the video showing a pan of a sun set.

I reinserted it for the last clip screen shot 2. You can see it is transformed. I want this to rise to the top of the clip again implying flight.

I applied the standard KB to the image - not changing anything. Screen shot 3 shows that it is not scaling the image only the placeholder (If that is the right term). When I play the clip the watermark pans per the standard KB effect but it is giving a periscope view of the watermark and not the transformed watermark.

I have tried numerous things to get this to work w/o success. I have used KB on stills in the timeline but not quite liked this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't see any screenshots. Make sure they are JPEGs and not too large.

Sorry about that. I reduced them to several 100 kb but forgot to convert them.

Is screenshot 3 adjusting the Scale of the clip, or trimming with the drop tool? Not sure what you mean by "placeholder".

FCPX guru thanks for responding.

Screenshot 2 is the transform of the larger image. After transforming I click on KB
effect which is displayed in the newly attached 2a.

After 2A I play the image and that is what is displayed is screen shot 3 Hope that helps.

Placeholder is a desktop publishing term whereby you create in a document a place to hold an image that you will place later. If the size of the created holder is 2" x 3" and you place a 4" x 6" image you only get a 2 x 3 view of the image. A periscope type of view.

Screen shot 3 has that periscope view. Since I transformed it in screen shot 2 I would expect that it would view in that transformed size.

I am not sure what you mean by drop tool? I do not see that in any documentation.

I think that was a typo: "Crop Tool"

I think KB is the wrong tool to use for this. This is not what it was meant for. I'd simply keyframe the Position (and Scale if desired) and be done with it.

Agreed. Don't use Ken Burns for this, he is not qualified for this type of work and it shows on his resume. Remember that Ken is primarily a CROPPING tool. And also a living, breathing human being with hopes, dreams, and limitations.

Instead, mark the keyframes of where the graphic is at the beginning of the clip for both SCALE and POSITION. Now go to the frame where you want to movement to end and make sure the position is 0, 0 (perfectly centered onscreen) and adjust the scale to 100 or however big you need it to be.
