Greetings,

I installed some digieffects demo plugins but couldn't get them to work correctly. I wanted to remove them so I deleted the file from the FXPlug folder. However, when I start FCPX they still show in the effects browser. If I try to select them they don't do anything. Does FCPX somehow cache the plugins someplace else? Do I need to have FCPX re-scan the plugin folder? Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

JT

There should be an uninstaller to run. Contact Digieffects support and ask them. There's more to just what's in that folder to be removed. Perhaps some Quartz Composer stuff or the like.

Please keep in mind that plug-ins are held in two possible locations. One is the public location under: Movies> Motion Templates>...

The other is account user file location: (user)>..

wdevn,

I don't see anything in the Motion Templates. Are these hidden by default (Lion)? The other location I know about is the FXPlugin folder. Are there other places?

I have an email into Digieffects.

BenB,

Is there a way to tell what's n Quartz Composer?

Digieffects are some sophisticated stuff, I'm sure it's not a simple Motion template but some QC or FXPlug2 stuff. Thus, you'll have to get the info from their tech support directly.

Out of curiosity, what did you have to do?

In addition to removing the plugins from /Library/Plug-ins/FxPlug/, I had to remove it from /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/

So, two locations to delete from. I thought it was only from the one.

Thanks,

Yep, they were doing more coding than just the simple Motion templates us end users create, as I figured. Glad you got it worked out!
