replace edit only replaces video! Something isn't set up properly.
Be sure Linking is enabled in the Timeline window.
Be sure the Audio Patch Tabs are in place in the Timeline headers.

How to save project on both computer and external hard drive? Hi, you can have for ex. Carbon Copy Cloner backup/ sync to that location, and have it unmount the disc Wien doen.
