I am looking to create an interactive video that would allow who ever is viewing it to choice where they would like to go. My issue is that I need it to work on the iPad. I was hoping to export a .mov file with chapter like markers allowing the video to jump in between videos depending on what the viewer choices.

Can anyone suggest any software I could try to use? I am using FCPX to edit.

Thank you so much!

Really interesting question. Mag+ might be the way to go, or if you have dreamweaver it can create html5 interactive elements. I use hype (tumult software) for my web work and i will explore that a bit to see if its possible, I have a developer account and I've created apps and books but i havent done anything in a live 'tap here, make choice A or B' gaming sense with the video content, need to look into that too. Be interested to hear what others think as i suspect it will be a very important part of our work in the years to come. There is also a useful article on preparing the sshoot with interactive content in mind, ref here, www.pcworld.com/article/163458/create_yo...eractive_videos.html

It seems that both ipad and iphone won't display html elments over video. I think iBooks author allied to keynote might be a way to create the sort of thing we are interested in. Pity the sprite tracks of QT were abandoned/under-developed.

Hmm, I have downloaded hype and quickly tested it, but a little lost. Do you see it as viable option or would using Mag+ work?

I was thinking about using iBook Author, I am actually doing a project in it now, having a few issues though. But that could work, possibly creating a HTML widget and importing the file in.

One more thing, the video I am trying to make is actually not an action video but, sorta of a software based video.

Funny, cause we are working on some future projects that should be interactive.
We also debated and test using html 5 with no good out come so far. Right now we are looking into create a App environment for the interactive part.

I will keep you posted or when we get right result I will post a link here.

Hi,

Here are two links with interactive videos to check out:
www.fox.com/new-girl/heygirl/
www.interlude.fm/

When I stumbled across the Hey Girl video, researching multi cam editing. I thought it was cool, but I didn't do anything else about it at time. I followed up tonight and tracked down the software company the producer at FOX used.

I agree that interactive videos are avenues to explore.

Hopefully these will links will be of help. I'll look into this some more tomorrow afternoon.

As always, this site is so good and I have learned so much reading the posts. There is always something new posted.

Thank you,

Anders

Did you try to produce your video in Keynote and export to QT? Use slides as chapters. You can set links that would enable the viewer to move to different chapters.

It works on a Mac, but I'm sure if it work with an iPad (don't have one).

try Clickberry. Seems it have an iPad app to create interactive video and PRO Editor to make professional projects. I used the iPad version.

We have developed an HTML5 system that allows for time seeking - check it out at www.thepeloton.tv - we are currently developing a user interface to allow people to do it themselves

I've been learning iBooks Author. For interactive presentations, I don't know anything better so far.

Ben,

I apologize for taking this thread off topic, but I have a book that's been in print for many years and we just converted it to the iBooks format via iBooks Author 2. We decided not to go through with it because evidently iBooks sell extremely poorly and Apple insists on having an ISBN number which costs the author $125 (for 1). We are not overwhelmed with the Author software either. Lots of gotchas if you're not careful.

My understanding is that Amazon has the market here on digital books and they are supposed to supply ISBN numbers for free. We do plan to convert to the Amazon format before too long.

Since you alluded to interactive presentations, what I just said may be totally irrelevant, but do be careful with the program, it is awfully buggy.

If you want to discuss more, contact me off-forum.

Dave

There are other places to sell iBoooks beside iTunes bookstore. Although most of what I read now is from the iBook store or Amazon and going directly to my iPad.

Or HYPE for web pages...
