Hey Guys,

Been reading this forum for over a year now and now it's time for some questions of my own.

There is a shoot coming up and i'm going to use fcpX for the first time on this big project.
We already did some tests but i'm still not very sure about this one. They are using an Alexa to shoot with and 2:1 anamorphic lenses. So if I understand that is a 16:9 sensor on with they will be shooting 2.35.

If I import the alexa shots(they already shot some tests) it comes in distorted. Then in the motion tab (yes I know still using fcp7 terminology) I adjust the x and y to 150 on 75. This gives me a proper 2.35 image.

1. Is this a good way to do this? Can it be quicker?
2. Is there a way to copy this to all clips instead of doing it manually clip by clip?

Cheers,

Ward

I've not been lucky enough to work with any Alexa footage as yet but you might want find out what their shooting on, and what sensor mode, before going any further.

Reading the "Can I use anamorphic lenses with ALEXA?" section on the following link will shed a little light on why.

Allright thanks!

I understand the cropping and squeezing now that needs to be done.

Is there now a way to apply this to all of the clips in my timeline?

Thanks,

Ward

If you make any changes to a timeline clip in the inspector then "copy" and "paste effects" (⌥⌘v) they will be pasted to all other clips in the timeline that are selected.

It's not how I'd want to do it, I'd rather be able to do it in the Event Browser, but I can't see how.

For simple scaling and size transformations it might be easier just to select all the clips in the timeline and then change the values in the inspector. You will see this will indicate "inspecting multiple items" but you make those number changes once and it will apply it to every selected clip.
Creating history....one edit at a time !
