1st post here. No search, as I apologize for the noob question. I converted .MTL files to .MOV in ClipWrap, and i can not import any of the files. Also when played in quick time the audio is spot on but video has major glitches. Filmed in 60p on Sony VG20. i7 iMac, 3.4ghz, 16gig ram.

This is an AVCHD camera. A .mtl file is a file used in 3D to define the material of a polygon (I had to look that up). Why are you using ClipWrap? Are you trying to import video from the camera? Why don't you use the camera import function?

Those fifty dollar converters you can find on the web are mostly useless.

If your cam uses a standard format, you shouldn't have any problem with copying your card (the whole file structure with all folders) to your desktop and import these files into FCP or iMovie with the import function.

You have a machine with Intel CPU, I'd assume?

Is it 1080p60? I'm not sure if FCP X can work with that yet.

Do your files play in Quicktime?

Are you using 10.0.4? That imports 60p media. FCP has no problem with 60p media. Do you have mixed formats on the card or drive you're trying to import? Does it mount on your desktop? Try walking us through what's happening and what you're doing exactly.

I am running on the most current version of fcpx. Yes 1080p60p. First I tried importing directly from the cam with the sd card still in it and fcpx can not find the files. Next I tried inserting sd card and importing...same tihng, cant find the files. I then saved complete avchd files from my sd card to movies folder then search in fcpx for them same issue. Lastly i tried converting them to .mov files via clipwrap and they are greyed out. fcpx will not import them. the files play in quicktime but are hit or miss with gltches in the video, not audio. this is killing me as I cant work on projects.

Try creating a test user account on your mac and see if your files are accessible that way. Sounds like there could be a user permission issue with your account.

Some step in the correct import process is being overlooked.
