Hi!

Im making a short film/presentation and need to have graphics and text entering and exiting the frame (I can do this). What I can't seem to do is keep the graphic/text static on the screen, then exit after a few seconds. I have tried adding the key frames at the beginning then at the end of the clip but it still seems to be one continuous movement. Is there a way of separating the keyframes so the graphic/text enters the screen- stays static- then moves out of the screen?

Thanks!

Sophie

Hi Sophie,

This is very easy to do, but then it is best to create your title animation using the Transform tool instead of doing it in the Inspector. In the Transform tool you can manually change the interpolation between the keyframes of an animation, which you cannot do in the Inspector nor in the Video animation editor.

It takes more time to explain than to show, so I have made a very quick video explaining how to do this. You can download the tutorial here:

Best wishes,

Ronny

You need keyframes in the middle where the clip stops, then again where it starts up again. So you'll need four keyframes.

Even when you create four keyframes you will get an unwanted movement where the title should stand still between keyframes 2 and 3 because FCP10 applies Smooth interpolation as default between all keyframes. So you have to change the keyframe interpolation to Linear. You can only do this when you use the Transform tool to set your keyframes. This is a weakness in the current version of FCP10. If my information is correct this will be addressed in the next update.
