I believe that changes like that would have to be done in Motion. I can't think of a way to adjust that in FCPX.

Do you have any idea how to set that up in motion?

I am building a motion template. Basically what I am trying to do is have a person be able to drop a clip into a drop zone in fcpx and change the in point of a clip.

As far as I can tell, that isn't a publishable attribute.

I'll do some more research on Monday, but it's looking like you'll need to make those changes in Motion for each individual instance of the clip.

If your drop zone is to hold a still image you could add a "Ramp" parameter behaviour to the opacity, set the "Start Value" to -100 and the "End Value" to 100. Set the "Start Offset" and the "End Offset" to allow the drop zone to appear over a single frame. Then rig them both to a slider that allows the FCPX user to adjust when it appears, the same could be done with a second "Ramp" behaviour and as second slider to adjust the end point.

It could be done over a slower fade, or to a position or scale parameter to choose where it starts to animate it in/out over time rather than suddenly appear.
