I have downloaded FCPX last Friday and I have a problem with disappearing FCPX keyboard shortcuts - original basic commands like: in - out, insert etc.
It is there when I start using FCP and then it's gone and the keyboard does not respond to those commands.It's mac standard keyboard.
relaunch FCPX solves the problem but it comes again.
When I go to FCPX commands - customize - most times I get what seems to be a corrupt keyboard command layout, with most of its contend missing.

What version of OS X are you using?

Have you tried trashing your preferences?

I am using 10.6.8 version. It's Imac 24" but with one month old new hard drive.
No I have not trashed the preferences as I use to do on FCP7, is it the same with X?
Are the preferences in the same folder as in 7?
I also have FCP 6 installed.

I downloaded Preference Manager and used it.
It does not help. The keyboard does not respond to FCPX shortcuts.
With FCP6 there are no problems.

When you installed Final Cut Pro 6, did you install before or after you installed FCP X?

My fcp6 is 4 years old and worked like magic.
I purchased FCPX last week and I had the shortcuts problem ever since.
I encountered the same problems with FCPX trial version.
In Apple Support I got an answer to go to Disk Utility and to repair permissions, I did not try that as it seems an fcp problem and not an entire Macnitosh hd problem, but maybe I am wrong.

Is this a standard US QWERTY keyboard? What language do you have it set to? FCP6 probably worked with a different OS.

My keyboard is European keyboard. Worked well with FCP 6 alongside Logic FCP keyboard,
I tried Disk utilities - Repair Permissions., trash preferences and the problem is still there.

My keyboard is set to English and Hebrew, again I never had a problem with FCP6.

It seems that fcpx is sensitive into what language the keyboard is set to.
The keyboard commands shortcuts work only if the keyboard is set to English. When I change the
keyboard language to Hebrew the shortcuts commands don't work.
This is the solution to the problem I had in this topic.
In FCP 7 and 6 it does not matter into which language the keyboard is set. the FCP shortcuts work fine in both languages.
