Ok I'm creating a video it has 4 different clips in split screen. How can i add a transition to sweep across the whole screen not just in one of the little split screen clips ?

Create Compound Clips, mthen you can add the transitions between these clips.

select all your clips and choose New Compound Clip or Option+G.
Small tip... type Compound Clip in the help bar in FCPX. ;)

Also, get the Ripple Training course for FCPX. In 2 days you will not be a noob and will be flying through your edits.

Just saying; Its worth the investment to really understand the fundamental workflows of FCPX, including compound clips which are necessary for day to day tasks.

I couldn't agree more - definitely worth the small investment for MacProVideo or Ripple.
